Product content
This page explains where the text on your product pages comes from. The short answer: you type it in the theme editor, and per-product text goes in the product description.
What you type in Customize
Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize, open Products in the page picker and choose a product. These parts of the product page are typed right in the editor:
- Tabs. Each Collapsible tab block has a Heading and a Content box. See Collapsible tabs.
- Highlights. The Product highlights block has a heading and up to four label and value rows. See Product highlights and fit notes.
- Fit notes. The Fit notes block has label and value rows. The Fit guide section compares the general fits you offer.
- Size tables. The Size guide drawer section builds its tables from Size table blocks. See Size guide.
- Complete the look products. Pick them in Picked products in the Complete the look section. See Complete the look.
Same on every product
The product page has one template. Whatever you type in Customize shows on every product that uses it. Write store-wide text that fits all your products, for example shipping and returns, general care and how to choose a size. Clothes and accessories can share it.
Text for one product
Text that is different for each product goes in the product description:
- In your Shopify admin, go to Products and open the product.
- Write the text in Description.
- Select Save.
The product page shows the description in the Text block. See How do I show different details per product?
Standard Shopify data
The theme still reads two kinds of standard Shopify data. You do not create or set up either one.
- Review stars. A review app saves the rating and the number of reviews on the product. The theme shows the stars. See Product page > Reviews and stars.
- Color swatches. They use Shopify's standard Color attribute. See Product page > Color swatches.
No custom definitions needed
The theme needs no custom metafield or metaobject definitions. You do not have to create anything under Settings > Metafields and metaobjects.
